Here's a selection of our favorite trees from the farm. Consider making one of them your next tree.

Balsam Fir

Balsam Fir (Abies balsamia)

Mature Height: 15-23 m.

Ideal Habitat: Grows well in a wide range of soils.

Common to the boreal forest, this wonderfully fragrant coniferous is distinguished by its flattened needles. It grows in a narrow pyramid formation, which makes for a beautiful, streamlined Christmas tree.

Colorado Blue Spruce

Colorado Blue Spruce (Picea pungens)

Mature Height: 25-30 m.

Ideal Habitat: Well drained, fertile soil with full to partial sunlight

This tree makes a great windbreak: it's drought-tolerant, and it's deer-resistant. On top of this, the tree forms a full and dense pyramid, which is why the United States uses it as it’s Whitehouse Christmas tree. The needles posess a silvery-blue tinge. We also carry: Alberta, Blackhills, Engelman, Siberian and White spruce.

Swiss Stone Pine

Swiss Stone Pine (Pinus cembra)

Mature Height: 25-35 m.

Ideal Habitat: Moist, well drained soil, full sun.

There's a good reason why many people feel that this tree is underrepresented in today's landscapes. Its soft needles and graceful upturned branches make it the perfect feature conifer for your yard. Use its nuts for preparing pestos, baklava, and other delicous recipes. We also carry the better known Scotch pine.

Manitoba Maple

Manitoba Maple (Acer negundo)

Mature Height: 10-25 m.

Ideal Habitat: Shallow root system preffers moisure, thrives on seasonal flooding, full- partial sun.

This distinctive deciduous has green leaves, consisting of three or more leaflets, that turn a lively yellow colour in Autumn. The irregular trunk makes it a lovely climbing tree when matured. In the winter, you can tap the trees for syrup. We also carry the Amur maple.

Dolgo Crabapple

Dolgo Crabapple (Malus dolgo)

Mature Height: 4-6 m.

Ideal Habitat: Full sun, grows in a variety of soils

This hearty ornamental is a great feature tree. Its pink, fragrant blossoms explode in spring, and in summer become large, dark red apples. Harvest the fruit in fall for pies, jellies, and wines, and turn the pruned branches into woodchips for smoking meats. We also carry Kerr, Manchurian, Ranetka, Roseybloom, Thunderchild and Highbush crabapples.

European Larch

European Larch (Larix decidua)

Mature Height: 25-45 m.

Ideal Habitat: Well drained soil

This cold-resistant deciduous conifer touts spiraling needle-like leaves that turn yellow in autumn and then shed in the winter. Interestingly, its wood is used in yacht construction. A real conversation peice. We also carry the Western larch.

Bur Oak

Bur Oak (Quercus macrocarpa)

Mature Height: 25-30 m.

Ideal Habitat: Deep taproot system, suited to a variety of soils, full-partial sun.

Fire resistant, drought resistant, this giant is seemingly indestructable. It’s a tree that provides a lot of shade and looks great towering alone. The acorns can be harvested in winter to decorate Christmas wreaths.
